Recap & Learning Path: Wednesday September 10th, 2025

Hi, St Pete Zouk Fam!

Subject: Class Recap & Learning Path for Zouk Fundamentals. Past Wednesdays September 19th, 2025

Great class yesterday! We covered a lot of material on Soltinho and its variations. Remember to practice the footwork at home to build muscle memory.

What We Practiced:

· New Partner Patterns: Lateral movement, Viradinha, Launch, and simple turns.

· Soltinho: We worked on the basic pattern both together and detached.

The Goal of This 8-Week Series: My primary goal is to introduce you to the 7 basic movements of Zouk. We will be revisiting these fundamentals throughout the series, adding layers and details each time. The learning path is designed as follows:

1. Master how to move comfortably and navigate the dance floor.

2. Build upon that foundation with more advanced concepts.

A Important Note on Head Movement:

Please be aware that we will not focus on head movement (e.g., headrolls) in this foundational series. For your first year (and often for the first 3-5 years), the priority is building a strong, safe, and connected foundation. Even advanced dancers consistently return to these basics to polish their technique.

Our Progress So Far: We have already accomplished 4 of the 7 basic movements! Our next step will be introducing the "Bônus"

Managing Expectations: Be patient with yourselves. It is completely normal if you do not feel you have fully mastered all 7 basics by the end of this series. True mastery of these fundamentals is a long-term goal that often takes several years of consistent practice. This journey is a marathon, not a sprint.

Keep up the excellent work!
